Before you create a reference section for a psychology paper, it is important to know how to properly list books, articles, and other sources in APA format. The following guidelines can help you prepare a reference section for your APA format paper. How to Start Writing an APA-Style Paper No Author Articles and other works that do not provide an author attribution should begin with the title of the work. If the title is a book, list the title first in italics. The volume number and page numbers should follow article titles, while book titles should be followed by the location and publisher name. The Financial Crisis and The Great Depression Free Essay Example, 1000 words

The recovery that was seen in the periods after 1933 was rapid, but not rapid enough to completely reverse the effects of the depression. Another point of similarity is that both of them were preceded by asset price booms and bursts. There was a housing boom and burst in the 1920s and the Wall Street boom and crash around 1929. Similarly in 2006, there was a mortgage related housing boom and burst, leading to the 2008 crisis. Another similarity lied in the fact that both the crises led to massive unemployment resulting from layoffs. When the industrial production shrunk, the industries had no choice but to send a portion of the employee’s home. The differences between the two economic hardships the world faced were their causes and the times they occurred. It is often thought that the great depression was a result of the effects of the world war during which a lot of destructions happened, and some of the things that held the world economy together were affected severely. We also have generational differences in the sense that one took place in 1929 and another about 80 years later. Some of the differences between the great depression and the current economic difficulties including the 2008 credit crunch lie in a number of things, which include a number of things. In 1929, there was a concentration of industrial activities in the European nations and the United States. In 2008, even the nations that hadn’t invested in industry by the 1920s had some amount of industrial production going on in them. The effects of the two economic periods are similar in the sense of shrunk industrial production (Cooper, 2008). The difference here is that whereas the 1929 situation only affected the then industrialized nations, sparing those that hadn’t invested in industry, the 2008 situation affected each and every country of the world, because virtually all the countries of the world have an industrialized economy, no matter how small. Another difference between 1929 and the 2008 situation was that the great depression of the late 1920s and the early 1930s was an old fashioned version of banking liquidity crisis that resulted from the failure by federal bank to serve as a lender of last resort. Obamacare was a dishonest plan to begin with, and if Romney gets in office hopefully he will repeal the horrible act that is Obamacare. Many people think The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 is socialism. There are many reasons for this, one is that it lets the federal government mandate what the price of health care is which in effect can cause the prices of healthcare to go up dramatically within the next four years. This also makes everyone get health care even if that set family cant afford it which is a form of Socialism. If you refuse to get the new health care, like in the case of small businesses with over 50 employees they will drop existing businesses medicade plan that you have, and you wont have the extra care at all. In all technicallity there has been no limit in which the federal government can tax Americans for health care. In the long run that will put a bigger dent in Americas economy and our debt to China. Senior citizens across the country who cant afford regular health care prices use medicade to lower their price, and The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 is making it more difficult for seniors to recieve Medicade help practically taking all the relief given to senior citizens with obamacare. The effects on senior citizens will be catastrophic there will be a shortage of 95,000 doctors due to pay cuts. Which will make it to where less and less people can be seen by a doctor each day. Seniors, in fact, will have to pay at least ten percent more than their usual medicare plan due to tax cuts, and price increases. Another bad fact is that due to Obama’s irresponsible tax cuts that fifteen percent of medicare or medicaid plans will be cut from the system, directly affecting the amount of care that seniors will be able to recieve no matter what. One elderly woman from Massachusetts who is fighting parkinson’s says that she has already stopped recieving cheap care because doctors are already preparing for Obamacare in 2013. In 2010 president Barack Obama ensured us that in the first decade of his healthcare plan it will save us 1. 2 trillion dollars. However that was false, and The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 will cost three times more than what was originally projected. Republican senators have shown this estimate everytime they calculate the plan, and many say that Obama just plain out lied to Americans who had given him support. Also it will put Americans in an extra two trillion dollar deficit in which the total deficit will add up to 5 trillion dollars. The senate is already pushing to ammend the bill to where maybe we can correct his mistakes, but also save us money in the first three decades which was originally projected. Obama held a joint session in 2010 where he practically said this is the plan, and it will cost 900 billion dollars however its already made us spent three more times the usual amount for any health care plan in America. Many people who some say don’t deserve healthcare are getting healthcare while middle class families are giving more than ever to support these bums. Obamacare is practically ripping care out of the hands of people who work hard for care, yet supports the poor people who cant afford it. Now we must understand that there are special circumstances for people, but most people have the energy to get off the couch so they should be able to find a job. In most circumstances if they got laid off or whatever the other circumstances are, but it doesnt mean Obama should just give special care to these people because there to lazy to go out and work every day like normal Americans. The conclusion to my thoughts about The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 is simple. One, it lets the government choose the price of healthcare and medicade, and also is a form of socialism. Two, war veterans, and senior citizens who worked hard everyday for our country are steadily being taken from. Three, the act grants them the power to tax more from medicade. Brief Review of Amistad essays The story of Amistad began in the early 1800s when a group of enslaved men, women and children are captured and put aboard a slave ship, the Tecora. While, on the Tecora they endured brutality, sickness, and death. After a horrific journey to Cuba, they were sold as Cuban born slaves and then put on a ship by the name of La Amistad. While aboard Amistad a man by the man of Cinque manages to unshackle himself and his companions. Once freed they organize a revolt and reclaim the ship only sparing two men by the name of Jose Ruiz and Don Pedro Montez, Cinque orders them to set sail into the Rising Sun back to Africa little does Cinque know that the Spaniards would secretly change course. After more than six weeks at sea, the Amistad arrives off the coast of Long Island. A surveying brig notices the Amistad and seizes the ship. The slaves are taken to New Haven and imprisoned. Ownership issues of the Africans soon reach Queen Isabella of Spain, President Martin Van Buren, and a few other interested parties, all battling for the Africans. Lawyer, Robert Baldwin finds interest in the case and decides to fight to free the Africans alongside Lewis Tappan, Abolitionist leader. As the legal battle begins, Baldwin argues that the Africans were illegally bought to America and that they should be set free, Van Buren thought differently and decides to change the judge hoping for the case to be ruled in his favor. Fortunately for Cinque the new judge ruled that they were born in Africa and were to be set free and returned to their homes in Africa. The judge also ruled that Ruiz and Montez were to be arrested for slave trading. Again President Van Buren interferes and orders an immediate appeal, and the case went to Supreme Court. Its okay to break these resume rules Those of us who have spent any amount of time in the job market have undoubtedly devoted a great deal of blood, sweat, and tears to getting our resumes just right. We know the prize that’s at stake and the level of competition we’re likely facing in pursuit of our dream job, so putting in the extra time and effort to getting things just right is time well spent, and a worthwhile investment in our professional futures. And nothing sinks your chances of getting hired quite so quickly and absolutely as a poorly crafted resume. Every job seeker carries the weight of their resume as they mold and shape it in pursuit of perfection- and although the perfect resume may never be an attainable goal, that certainly doesn’t stop us from trying. This includes carefully following all the well-worn rules of resume writing that we’ve convinced ourselves are set in unmovable stone. But the truth is, they aren’t, at least not anymore. The rules for job hunting have c ertainly changed over the past several years, so doesn’t it stand to reason that the rules for resume writing have changed as well?Let’s be honest- the merging of technology and culture have changed nearly every aspect of how we live our lives and continues to tear down all the old rules and ways of doing things, and job hunting and resume writing are no exceptions. Those who are best at keeping up with the breakneck pace of change, and resisting getting mired down in stodgy old rules, are best positioned for success. On top of this, a little strategic rule breaking- when applied effectively- can really help you stand out from the crowd and grab the attention of the gatekeepers who stand between you and your next job.Hopefully by now we’ve convinced you that it’s sometimes okay to occasionally break the old resume rules in pursuit of your next job. Let’s take a closer look at some specific rules that are now ok to break.No storytellingWe’ve all heard before that a resume isn’t a venue for you to tell your life’s story. Rather, it should primarily be a tool to tell potential employers what value you offer. Not anymore! Today’s employers are interested in learning more about your personal brand- what makes you a unique individual as well as your specific value proposition. They want employees who’ll fit well in their culture and support their mission to promote their unique brand, and they want to know what makes you tick and what motivates you.Your resume could- and should- be a holistic document that chronicles your passions, pursuits, and key professional decisions as well as your work achievements. When writing your resume, don’t shy away from telling your story- when weaved effectively into your professional journey, it’ll help you stand out from other potential candidates and make you seem like much more than a boring, bulleted list of job responsibilities.Quantify everythingThe old rules of resume writing often dictated that if an achievement can’t be mapped back to the bottom line numerically- we’re talking about things like revenue, percentage growth, and numbers of new customers here- then it isn’t something worth including on your resume. This is simply not true! Today’s savvy employers can appreciate and recognize the value of contributions that don’t always translate immediately to a company’s bottom line. Perhaps you came up with a helpful or intriguing new idea or work policy at your old job that you can’t tie specific numbers to. That’s okay. As long as it supports your personal brand and message and demonstrates your value as a potential employee, include it!Keywords everywhereNothing puts hiring personnel to sleep faster than an endless pile of resumes that are all laden with the same overused keywords in an attempt to convince them that you’re â€Å"in the know† when it comes to the industry. A resume that’s nothing but keywords runs the risk of making you seem robotic and less like a human they’d like to work with. Sure, keywords are important and should be used strategically, but forcing them awkwardly into everything on your resume can make your document come off as boring and artificial. Don’t be afraid to have a resume that shows that you’re an actual person- and preferably one that they’d likely enjoy working with!There you have it- a few of the old rules that you may want to consider leaving behind when crafting your resume.
